Social & Emotional Issues

One of the key characteristics of the gifted child is their hyper sensitivity to their environment and those around them. They can sometimes act like emotional barometers, totally in tune with any emotional "static" in the air. Dealing with a highly sensitive child is a challenge and it’s a characteristic that can severely impact on the child's ability to build and maintain friendships within their peer group. Naturally it's one of the main areas of concern for parents.
